Fallece por Covid-19 el último de los fundadores del PCC, la organización criminal más poderosa de Brasil

José Márcio Felício, más conocido como Geleião, uno de los fundadores del Primer Comando de la Capital (PCC), la organización criminal más poderosa de Brasil, murió este lunes a los 60 años por coronavirus en el Centro Hospitalario del Sistema Penitenciario de Sao Paulo. 

Geleião era el último de los fundadores del PCC y dirigió durante unos diez años desde la cárcel la banda, creada en los 90, hasta que fue sustituido en 2002. Marcos Willians Herbas Camacho, alias Marcola, que hoy se encuentra preso en una cárcel de máxima seguridad en Brasilia, pasó a ser el líder principal de la banda.

El fallecido, que llevaba más de 40 años preso, estaba condenado por varios crímenes, algunos de ellos cometidos dentro de la cárcel, así como por ordenar el ataque y el asesinato de agentes de las fuerzas de seguridad.

Desde su sustitución, Geleião se convirtió en un enemigo de la banda. Según el diario Folha de S.Paulo, su traslado a principios de abril hasta el hospital se hizo bajo estrictas medidas de seguridad por los equipos de operaciones especiales, porque estaba amenazado de muerte por el PCC.

Geleião cumplía su pena en la penitenciaria de Iaras, en el interior de Sao Paulo, donde se encuentran presos amenazados de muerte, además de pedófilos o violadores. 

Creación del PCC

El PCC se creó en agosto de 1993 en Taubaté, una prisión de máxima seguridad en Sao Paulo. Ocho presos conocidos como “los de la capital”, por ser los únicos de la ciudad de Sao Paulo, bautizaron así a la banda.

La organización criminal surgió para evitar sucesos como la conocida ‘masacre de Carandiru’, que tuvo lugar un año antes de la formación del PCC, en 1992, cuando 111 presos murieron a manos de la Policía.

En la actualidad, la organización está compuesta por más de 30.000 miembros y tiene prácticamente el 90 % del control de la población carcelaria de Brasil, que cuenta con más de 750.000 reclusos. 

Según un estudio del Ministerio Público, recogido por la prensa local, desde que comenzó la pandemia hace más de un año han fallecido 49 presos y 60 funcionarios en las cárceles de Sao Paulo por covid-19.
