Romain Bardet conquista el Maillot Amarillo en la etapa inaugural del Tour 2024

En una jornada cargada de emociones y desafíos, el ciclista francés Romain Bardet se destacó al imponerse en la etapa inaugural del Tour de Francia 2024, celebrada hoy en Rimini, Italia. Bardet, de 33 años y representando al equipo DSM, consiguió además el codiciado maillot amarillo, símbolo de líder de la clasificación general.

La etapa comenzó con altas temperaturas y un recorrido exigente desde Florencia hasta Rimini, bordeando la costa del Adriático e incluyendo un paso histórico por San Marino, el 13º país extranjero en acoger el Tour. Bardet protagonizó una actuación magistral al escaparse del pelotón a 50 kilómetros de la meta, resistiendo posteriormente los intentos de alcanzarlo por parte de los favoritos del grupo principal.

El francés cruzó la línea de meta con una ventaja de apenas cinco segundos sobre su compañero de equipo neerlandés Frank van den Broek, quien aseguró la segunda posición de la etapa. Esta victoria marca la cuarta ocasión en que Bardet se alza con una etapa en el Tour de Francia, un evento donde anteriormente había alcanzado el segundo puesto en la clasificación general en 2016 y 2017, pero nunca antes había vestido el maillot amarillo.

En declaraciones tras la etapa, Bardet expresó su alegría por alcanzar este hito en su última participación en la carrera, tras anunciar recientemente su retiro programado para junio de 2025. “Es un honor poder liderar el Tour con el maillot amarillo, algo que siempre soñé lograr”, comentó el experimentado ciclista.

La competencia continuará con nuevas etapas desafiantes, prometiendo más emociones y luchas entre los principales contendientes por el título de la ronda gala.
