El sistema de semáforos inteligentes registra 60% de avance

El moderno sistema de semáforos en El Salvador es implementado en las principales ciudades. Los dispositivos son instalados por zonas, este mes corresponde al Centro Histórico de San Salvador, Santa Ana y San Miguel.

“Este mes empezaremos a colocar los lentes de los semáforos en San Miguel; ya estamos poniendo los postes. Y estaremos en Santa Ana, el próximo mes, con la obra civil para instalar los pedestales del proyecto de semáforos inteligentes”, informó el Ministro de Obras Públicas.

La nueva red de semáforos incluye la implementación de dispositivos para uso de peatones y tecnología Bluetooth para recolectar información de los corredores viales. Todo se controlará desde un centro de monitoreo y variarán sus tiempos de acuerdo con el flujo vehicular.

En el caso de los semáforos peatonales son instalados en intersecciones estratégicas, centros de estudio, trabajo, hospitales y donde transitan personas con discapacidades.

“Sabemos que de cada 10 fallecidos cerca de tres personas son peatones y esto es por el alto grado de exposición y vulnerabilidad que tienen en diferentes carreteras”, señaló el ministro.

Además, se sigue colocando las pantallas de mensajes variables, las cuales, son parte del plan de modernización. Ya se colocaron algunas en la autopista a Comalapa y el Paseo General Escalón, San Salvador. Con estas, se dará información en tiempo real para tomar decisiones sobre tráfico y cualquier otra eventualidad en carretera.

“En Santa Ana vamos a empezar a instalar también por todo el sector de Unicaes, el bulevar Los 44 y otras zonas aledañas, para que la población pueda tomar decisiones. Vamos a instalar también donde hacemos carriles reversibles, hay información que no se puede tener con el Waze y Google Maps”, señaló el funcionario.

Asimismo, serán instaladas plantas de emergencia que tendrán los semáforos inteligentes. Se garantizará que cuando el servicio de energía eléctrica falle, por ejemplo, durante una tormenta, el equipo de semáforos siempre esté en funcionamiento.
