Estados Unidos comienza a construir prototipos para el muro fronterizo con México

La construcción de prototipos para el muro fronterizo entre Estados Unidos y México ha comenzado. Así lo anunció la Oficina de Aduanas y Protección Fronteriza de los Estados Unidos (CPB, por sus siglas en inglés) en un comunicado de este martes.

El proceso de construcción de prototipos comenzó en San Diego, California, con cuatro modelos hechos de concreto y cuatro de “otro material.

Estamos comprometidos con proteger nuestra frontera y eso incluye la construcción de muros fronterizos”, afirmó Ronald Vitiello comisionado interino de CBP.

“Nuestra estrategia de varias facetas para la seguridad del pueblo estadounidense incluye barreras, infraestructura, tecnología y personal”.

Los ocho prototipos que se construirán medirán entre 5,4 a 9,1 metros de alto y están diseñados para impedir que se cruce ilegalmente la frontera en la zona en la que serán construidos, informó la CPB.

“Avanzar con estos prototipos nos permite continuar a incorporar todas las herramientas para proteger nuestra frontera”, añadió Vitiello.

Según la CPB, los prototipos estarán listos en 30 días.

En julio de este año se informó que la construcción de los prototipos para el muro prometido por el presidente Donald Trump durante su campaña se retrasó causando demoras de meses en el desarrollo del potencial muro. El plan inicial había sido construir los prototipos en junio.

Aunque el Congreso todavía no ha asignado dinero para la propuesta insigne de campaña de Trump, los prototipos son vistos como el único paso que puede tomar el gobierno para cumplir la visión del presidente.
