Justin Verlander lanzó una joya de nueve entradas y Carlos Correa remolcó las dos carreras de su equipo para que los Astros de Houston vencieran 2-1 a losYankees de Nueva York y ampliaran a dos victorias sin derrota su ventaja en la Serie de Campeonato de la Liga Americana.
Por segundo día consecutivo, la pizarra terminó con idéntico marcador, con gran dominio del pitcheo de ambos conjuntos y muy poca ofensiva.
Por segunda vez en su carrera y primera desde el 2012, Verlander lanza un partido completo en postemporada, para archivar su tercer triunfo en los playoffs del 2017.
Realizó 124 pitcheos, 93 de ellos por la zona de strikes (algunos dudosos por otra mala labor del umpire principal, esta vez Hunter Wendelstedt) y propinó 13 ponches.

Después de un out, Altuve sonó su segundo imparable de la tarde y corrió como alma que lleva el diablo cuando Correa conectó tendido entre el jardín derecho y el central.
El tiro de relevo de Didi Gregorius al plato llegó con el tiempo suficiente para esperar al venezolano, pero el receptor dominicano Gary Sánchez perdió la pelota.
