Organizaciones de DDHH pidieron al Estado respetar su labor como personas defensoras

En el marco de la conmemoración del Día Nacional del Defensor y Defensora de Derechos Humanos (DDHH),el cual se conmemora el 26 de octubre en El Salvador, diferentes organizaciones sociales e iniciativas ciudadanas se pronunciaron a través de redes sociales, exigiendo se garanticen y se cumplan sus derechos.

Entre ellas figuró la Mesa por el Derecho a Defender Derechos quienes a través de la conferencia de prensa titulada: “Legitimidad de la defensa de los Derechos Humanos en El Salvador”, dieron a conocer un informe el cual, contempla un análisis exhaustivo sobre los de agresiones contra personas defensoras y periodistas entre el 2021 y 2022.

Según cita el documento, el informe se ha elaborado tomando como base dos tipos de registros: la documentación directa de casos de agresiones contra personas defensoras y periodistas, así como un proceso de monitoreo de medios durante el año 2021 y los primeros 5 meses del 2022 realizado por organizaciones que conforman la Mesa por el Derecho a Defender Derechos (MDDD).

En su estructura, el documento presenta un contexto de la situación de las personas defensoras y periodistas en El Salvador, en el cual se exponen los principales escenarios de riesgo a los cuales se han enfrentado estos colectivos en los diferentes ámbitos de defensa de derechos humanos.

Durante la conferencia de prensa los defensores, enfatizaron: “Este contexto da muestra del debilitamiento del sistema democrático, a través de la cooptación de instituciones clave como la Fiscalía General de la República (FGR) y el Órgano Judicial, a través de una estrategia política de concentración de poder por parte del gobierno de turno. Este escenario representa uno de los panoramas más proclives a la criminalización de la labor de defensa de derechos en El Salvador”.
