Autoridades de EE.UU. interceptan a casi 100 migrantes haitianos en la isla puertorriqueña de Mona

¿Qué sigue para los haitianos que se quedaron en EE.UU.?

 La agencia de Aduanas y Protección Fronteriza de Estados Unidos (CBP, por sus siglas en inglés) informó que entre este jueves y viernes puso bajo su custodia a 92 migrantes provenientes de Haití, que presume fueron abandonados por contrabandistas en la isla de Mona, situada en la franja marítima entre la isla de La Española y Puerto Rico.

El portavoz regional de CBP Jeffrey Quiñones dijo que la Guardia Costera los transportará desde la isla de Mona al centro de detención de la agencia en Aguadilla, en el oeste de Puerto Rico.

Quiñones anticipó que se preparan para más arribos. “Tenemos la expectativa de que puedan llegar más (migrantes) a Mona este fin de semana”, destacó.

CBP indicó que 71 migrantes fueron localizados el jueves y los otros 21 este viernes.

Quiñones señaló que los migrantes serán trasladados en grupos a las oficinas de CBP en Aguadilla, ya que no tienen espacio suficiente para transportarlos a todos de una vez.

“El resto del grupo serán transportados mañana sábado a Mayagüez para que la Patrulla Fronteriza asuma su control y procesamiento”, dijo Quiñones, mediante mensajes de texto.
