¡Yamaha Niken es la primera moto deportiva con tres neumáticos!. La 45ª edición del Tokyo Motor Show, que se celebra en el Makuhari Messe (Japón) en el otoño de 2017. Una feria donde las marcas japonesas estrenan sus nuevos modelos de producción y prototipos. El certamen ideal para descubrir las últimas tecnologías relacionadas con coches eléctricos y la incipiente conducción autónoma.
Es la feria del automóvil más importante de Asia y una de las más relevantes del mundo junto con el de Barcelona, Detroit ó Ginebra. las marcas de Europa y Estados Unidos también presentan sus novedades. En los últimos años, el Salón de Tokio es un referente en vehículos que usan propulsión alternativa: hidrógeno, híbridos y eléctricos.
Una de las sorpresas del Salón de Tokyo ha sido Yamaha, que ha acudido a la muestra con varios prototipos. El más interesante de ellos se llama Yamaha Niken, y se trata de una moto deportiva con tres neumáticos. Hasta ahora las motos con tres ruedas eran un nicho de mercado reservado a modelos fundamentalmente urbanos, como la popular Piaggio MP3 o la Yamaha Tricity. Hasta ahora, a nadie se le había ocurrido fabricar una moto con tres ruedas de corte deportivo. Hasta ahora. Lo que aún no sabemos es cómo nos hace sentir este curioso prototipo con visos de producción.
Aunque ha sido mostrado por primera vez en público en este Salón de Tokyo, será mostrado más en profundidad en el EICMA de Milán, a principios del próximo mes. El prototipo parece basarse en una deportiva como la MT-09, con la que compartiría un motor tricilíndrico de 847 centímetros cúbicos y unos más que correctos 115 CV a 10.000 rpm. Es también un excelente escaparate para la suspensión basculante desarrollada por la marca, una tecnología denominada Leaning Multi-Wheeler (LMW).
La clave de esta moto es su sistema de doble horquilla invertida frontal, unida a llantas delanteras de 15 pulgadas, con un disco de freno por rueda. Gracias a esta tecnología, cada rueda se amortigua de forma independiente, aumentando varios enteros la estabilidad del vehículo ante un terreno bacheado. Como en el vídeo promocional se puede ver, la marca quiere que veamos esta tecnología como si fueran unos esquís: ágiles y dinámicos, pero más estables que un solo patín. Siendo una moto de corte deportivo, lo cierto es que este aumento de estabilidad vendrá obligatoriamente ligado a un menor paso por curva.
