El kiwi es una fruta pequeña y deliciosa, conocida por su color marrón y su piel con pelos en el exterior y su interior verde brillante. Es originaria de un valle de China, aunque luego fue llevada a Nueva Zelanda, donde hoy se produce en cantidad elevada.

- Aporta vitamina C
El kiwi aporta grandes cantidades de vitamina C a nuestro organismo, más que la naranja y el limón. La vitamina C nos ayuda a mantenernos con las defensas fuertes para combatir resfriados y todos los virus de la gripe, además de contribuir a mantener nuestros huesos, tejidos, dientes y vasos sanguíneos saludables. Una pieza de kiwi nos aporta más del 80% del requerimiento diario de vitamina C
- Disminuye el estreñimiento
El kiwi es una fruta repleta de fibra soluble, por ello ayuda en la digestión y mejora el tránsito intestinal, siendo una grande aliada para prevenir el estreñimiento. Si se consume en el desayuno ayudará mucho más en este aspecto. Se puede comer con otras frutas, yogur, kéfir o cereales a la mañana. Favorece la expulsión de heces.
3.Mejora la circulación de la sangre
Al contener vitamina E y ácidos grasos Omega 3 y 6, el kiwi fluidifica la sangre, mejorando el estado general de las arterias. Esto evita la formación de trombos o coágulos en los vasos sanguíneos. Esta fruta sirve para proteger contra trombosis, angina de pecho, derrames cerebrales e infartos. Y como si esto fuera poco, el kiwi y su fibra permiten reducir los niveles de colesterol en sangre.

Esto incluye cualquier elemento óseo del cuerpo, es decir, también los dientes. Esta propiedad se debe a los minerales presentes en el kiwi: cobre, magnesio y potasio. Una pieza de la fruta cubre el 10% de las necesidades básicas de los tres.El kiwi, así, permite mejorar el desarrollo de los huesos y también el funcionamiento de los nervios, músculos y órganos.
¿Quiénes no pueden comer kiwi?
Las personas que son alérgicas a una enzima llamada proteolítica actidina, no pueden consumir kiwi, ni papayas o piñas. Los que tienen tendencia a desarrollar cálculos renales (piedras en el riñón) tampoco, porque esta fruta es rica en oxalatos de calcio. Por esta razón, los niños han de reducir la ingesta, aunque no eliminarla por completo.
Debido a su contenido en potasio, no se recomienda para los que padecen de insuficiencia renal. Los síntomas por intoxicación por kiwi incluyen: urticaria, problemas para tragar y vómitos.
