FECHA Y EPISODIOS
La temporada 8 de ‘The Walking Dead’ constará de 16 nuevos episodios que, como es costumbre, se emitirán divididos en dos bloques de ocho con un hiato.
La primera parte de la temporada arrancará el 22 de octubre en Estados Unidos y Latinoamérica.

EPISODIO NÚMERO 100
Se da la casualidad de que el episodio final de la temporada 7 fue el número 99, de modo que la siguiente comenzará alcanzando el 100. “Somos conscientes de que tendremos que volver con uno de los mejores episodios hasta la fecha y empezar la temporada con él”, comentaba Andrew Lincoln a Independent. “Nunca pensé cuando empezamos esto hace siete u ocho años que llegaríamos hasta aquí. Yo era muy feliz con una temporada. Era muy feliz incluso solo con el piloto. Cien episodios es un hito enorme y será algo grande porque, como sabéis, mucha gente del equipo y del elenco se ha ido manchada de sangre. Estoy seguro de que hace cuatro años Scott M. Gimple ya tenía planeado que comenzaríamos el episodio 100 con una guerra a gran escala. Me gusta pensar en él como en un boy scout: siempre está preparado”.

GUERRA SIN CUARTEL
La octava temporada retratará un arco argumental de los cómics conocido como ‘All out war’ (en español, ‘Guerra sin cuartel’) que acabarca desde el número 115 hasta el 126. Este periodo refleja una guerra a muerte y sin descanso entre la alianza de Rick y los Salvadores de Negan. Como este artículo trata sobre la serie ‘The Walking Dead’ no entraremos en detalles de la trama de los cómics.
RICK NO TEME A LA MUERTE
Aunque siendo el protagonista de la serie es fácil suponer que Rick no nos dejará en la próxima temporada, parece que en este periodo de guerra dejará de temer por las posibles bajas en su grupo. “Sufrirá cualquier pérdida, incluso a sí mismo”, comenta el showrunner de la serie Scott M. Gimple en TVLine, “para darle a su gente y a otros la vida que deberían tener, donde el mundo les pertenezca a todos y no a una sola persona. Una vida real”.
El responsable de la serie mantiene que “esta es la única opción” y que Rick “está dispuesto a afrontar cualquier pérdida”, aunque puntualiza: “eso no significa que esté dispuesto a deshacerse de ellos o que si ocurre lo vaya a racionalizar inmediatamente, pero él entiende la magnitud de lo que están haciendo y que puede suponer un precio muy elevado”.
