Tormenta Tropical Julia ocasionó daños en Joya de Cerén

El paso de la tormenta tropical Julia por El Salvador causó daños en parques recreativos, sitios turísticos y arqueólogos, siendo el más afectado el Parque Arqueológico San Andrés donde se encuentra Joya de Cerén en el central departamento de La Libertad, informaron este miércoles fuentes oficiales.

Eric Doradea, viceministro de Cultura, explicó en declaraciones a la prensa que de los cinco parques arqueológicos con los que cuenta el país centroamericano, San Andrés registra daños en desagües e inundaciones en algunas partes del sitio, aunque el funcionario señaló que “nada de esto es grave”.

El Parque Arqueológico San Andrés es uno de los centros prehispánicos más grandes de El Salvador y habría constituido una capital regional entre los años 600 al 900 después de cristo en el período clásico tardío, período de apogeo de la civilización maya.

Los demás sitios arqueológicos “han presentado pocos daños”, dijo Doradea sin ampliar.

El viceministro señaló que también se reportan “pocos daños” en el Museo Regional de Oriente, en el Teatro Presidente en San Salvador, y en los teatros nacionales de San Salvador, San Miguel (oriente) y Santa Ana (occidente).

Por su parte, la ministra de Cultura, Morena Valdéz señaló que “aún se evalúan los daños en sitios turísticos” y que “los mayores daños se han dado en aquellos lugares donde han caído árboles”.

Apuntó que el país “dejó de percibir unos 75,000 visitantes turistas” durante la emergencia por Julia, cuya lluvias fueron intensas entre la noche del domingo y el lunes pasado y afectaron principalmente la zona oriental del país.
