Recomendaciones para el turismo y tráfico aéreo por actividad en los volcanes de Fuego y Pacaya

Insivumeh pide estar alertas ante la actividad que mantienen los volcanes de Fuego y Pacaya.

Este lunes 15 de febrero el Insivumeh emitió un boletín en el que informa de la actividad que mantienen los volcanes de Pacaya y Fuego.

El observatorio del Volcán de Pacaya reporta explosiones débiles a moderadas en el cráter Mackenney, las cuales suceden de forma esporádica en periodos de incremento de actividad que se han presentado durante la noche y madrugada de este lunes.

Estas explosiones elevan material incandescente a alturas de entre 200 y 250 metros sobre el cráter.

Esta actividad se acompaña de sonidos similares a los de locomotora de débiles a moderados, así como una desgasificación débil de color blanco que se eleva a 150 metros sobre el cráter y se disipa hacia el este.

Añade que no se escuchan retumbos ni se ha observado emisiones de columnas de ceniza. Las estaciones sísmicas registran explosiones asociadas al ascenso y emisión de material volcánico.

El flujo de lava en el flanco sur suroeste continúa activo, con una longitud aproximada de 650 metros. Esta zona de flujos de lava es susceptible a originar avalanchas y columnas de ceniza debido al colapso de estos.

Nuevos flujos de lava

No se descarta que surjan nuevos flujos de lava en otros flancos o que ocurran emisiones de ceniza desde el cráter en las próximas horas o días.

Volcán de Fuego

Mientras que el observatorio del Volcán de Fuego reporta durante la noche y madrugada actividad en el cráter con explosiones débiles y moderadas que arrojaron material incandescente a 100 metros de altura y originan columnas de ceniza hasta 4 mil 200 metros sobre el nivel del mar (13 mil 800 pies),

Este material permanece la mayoría a baja altura sobre el cráter y dispersándose a corta distancia en dirección este.
