EE.UU. impone sanciones contra regiones separatistas del este de Ucrania

El mandatario estadounidense, Joe Biden, anunció este lunes sanciones contra las regiones separatistas de Ucrania, que fueron reconocidas como independientes por el gobierno ruso a través de un discurso televisado dirigido por el mandatario Putin.

Posteriormente Biden, sostuvo una reunión telefónica de aproximadamente 35 minutos con su homólogo ucraniano, Volodímir Zelenski, y advirtió que más medidas punitivas estaban listas de ser necesario.

La Casa Blanca argumentó que Biden emitirá una orden ejecutiva la cual tendrá como fin “prohibir nuevas inversiones, comercio y financiamiento por parte de personas estadounidenses hacía, desde o en las llamadas regiones DNR y LNR de Ucrania” sostuvo la secretaria de prensa Jen Psaki.

Con esta nueva orden “brindará autoridad para imponer sanciones a cualquier persona decidida a operar en esas áreas de Ucrania” señaló Psaki y agregó que estas medidas son independientes de las sanciones occidentales más amplias que ya están listas para aplicarse “en caso de que Rusia invada más Ucrania”.

Luego de dicha reunión telefónica Estados Unidos anunció sanciones contra las regiones separatistas que serán reconocidas por Putin.

Aunque la Casa Blanca no amplió los temas abordados entre los mandatarios, la fuente se limitó a señalar había ocurrido tras el discurso de Putin reconociendo la independencia de las autoproclamadas repúblicas separatistas de Donetsk y Lugansk, en el este de Ucrania.

Este mismo lunes Biden había sostenido una reunión con el equipo de seguridad nacional en la Casa Blanca para abordar la tensión entre Ucrania y las acciones de Rusia.

A pesar de hacer publica esta información los funcionarios no dieron detalles sobre el contenido de la reunión además agregaron que el mandatario estadounidense recibe actualizaciones “periódicamente” sobre los últimos sucesos relacionados a Rusia y Ucrania
