Colombia está manejando mal su crisis de migrantes en el Darién, según Panamá

Entre repúblicas vecinas comparten la crisis de migrantes en la selva Darién; sin embargo, autoridades panameñas señalan que Colombia no está tomando las suficientes acciones para erradicar este problema.

En un desencuentro diplomático más entre las dos naciones que comparten la frontera natural de la selva del Darién, las autoridades migratorias de Panamá señalaron a Colombia de no estar haciendo lo suficiente para disminuir el tránsito de migrantes irregulares a través de la selva. Además, Samira Gozaine, directora del Servicio Nacional de Migración en Panamá (SNM) reiteró las peticiones de ayuda internacional a su país, ya que países como Estados Unidos “le están dejando el problema a la región”.

La autoridad migratoria panameña afirmó que desde Bogotá “no quieren colaborar con cerrar el tránsito” en el lado colombiano del Darién, añadiendo que su país ha recibido hasta 2.800 migrantes por día provenientes del cruce selvático. Además, Gozaine sentenció que el Gobierno de Ciudad de Panamá es el único preocupado por la situación migratoria.

“Panamá es el único país que invierte esfuerzo y dinero en atender esta población que llega casi moribunda al Darién (…) Nadie quiere invertir en estas personas”, declaró Gozaine y añadió que el Gobierno de su país ha gastado “más de 65 millones de dólares” para enfrentar la crisis migratoria en su frontera sur.

El primer semestre de 2023 batió los récords históricos de cruces por el Tapón del Darién, llegando a registrar para el pasado mes de julio poco más de 260.000 personas que habrían transitado a través de la selva, una cifra que ya es mayor a la reportada en la totalidad del 2022.

Gozaine subrayó que no solo los migrantes necesitan ayuda internacional, sino también las poblaciones que los acogen en territorio panameño.
