“Así que te violé”: un violador escribe en Facebook a su víctima siete años después y le emiten una orden de arresto

Después de ser violada en el campus universitario, la víctima acudió a la Policía para denunciar el crimen, pero las autoridades no hicieron nada para encontrar al culpable.

El año pasado, la estadounidense Shannon Keeler recibió en Facebook una serie de mensajes del hombre que la agredió sexualmente en 2013, cuando ambos estudiaban en la universidad Gettysburg College, en Pensilvania. Uno de esos mensajes decía: “Así que te violé”.

Ahora, casi ocho años después de que Shannon acudiera a la Policía denunciando violación, las autoridades de Pensilvania presentaron una orden de arresto en relación con el delito.

El Departamento de Policía de Gettysburg reabrió el caso el año pasado después de que Keeler les mostrara mensajes que parecían provenir de la cuenta de Facebook de Cleary. Después de verificar la cuenta, un nuevo equipo de policías y fiscales acusó a Ian Cleary, de 28 años, de Saratoga (California), de agredir sexualmente a Keeler.  

No obstante, aún no está claro si la mujer, ahora de 26 años, verá el caso ir a juicio, ya que el sospechoso todavía no ha sido localizado

Hablando con la agencia AP, Keeler relató su historia y detalló que a menudo los fiscales son reacios a presentar cargos en casos de violación en campus universitarios. De acuerdo con la declaración jurada presentada junto con la orden, en la última noche del primer semestre de Keeler en Gettysburg, Cleary la siguió hasta su habitación, donde la agredió sexualmente. Shannon ni siquiera sabía su nombre.

“Aunque estoy conmovida hasta las lágrimas por este resultado, que he esperado más de siete años, soy consciente de que este momento llegó porque hice pública mi historia, algo que ningún sobreviviente debería tener que hacer para obtener justicia”, confesó Shannon.
