El Presidente Salvador Sánchez Cerén sostuvo esta mañana una reunión de trabajo con el jefe del Estado Mayor Conjunto de las Fuerzas Armadas de la República de China (Taiwán), el Almirante Lee, Hsi-Min, con quien conversó sobre los diversos proyectos de cooperación enmarcados en el fortalecimiento del trabajo operativo de la Fuerza Armada de El Salvador.
Junto al mandatario estuvo presente el ministro de la defensa nacional, general David Munguía Payes, y el ministro de relaciones exteriores, Hugo Martínez, este último informó que durante el encuentro se dio seguimiento a los proyectos relacionados a las áreas de salud y capacitación.
En este sentido, informó que se está haciendo un estudio sobre la situación del Hospital Militar central y regional de El Salvador, para apoyar con nuevos equipos y capacitación del personal médico.
Ya sabemos que este hospital, no solo da servicio a las fuerzas armadas, sino también a la población civil. Es una importante área en la que ya pasamos revista y está muy avanzado el proceso”, dijo el canciller.
Asimismo, en materia de capacitación del personal militar, precisó que este se materializará con el envío de militares salvadoreños a China (Taiwán), así como con la presencia de efectivos taiwaneses en el país para este fin.
Luego se dio seguimiento a los temas de cooperación en cuanto a equipo militar básico, no letal, que nos permitirá tener una mayor capacidad operativa y movilidad de nuestras fuerzas armadas”, dijo el funcionario.
Martínez calificó la reunión como “muy provechosa”, ya que “testimonia las buenas relaciones entre Taiwán y El Salvador”, así como los deseos que tiene esta nación de colaborar en materia castrense, así como este país amigo lo hace en áreas como educación, agricultura, medioambiente, seguridad y prevención, entre otras.
El Almirante Lee, Hsi-Min estuvo acompañado de una amplia comitiva de la Fuerza Armada de la República de China (Taiwán), y por la embajadora de esa nación en el país, Florencia Miao –hung Hsie.
