Problemista: La Nueva Película Del Actor Y Escritor Salvadoreño Julio Torres.

Julio Torres es un actor y escritor salvadoreño que ha destacado por su humor surrealista y original. Después de trabajar como guionista en Saturday Night Live y crear la serie de HBO Los Espookys, sobre un grupo de amigos que se dedican a fabricar escenas de terror para sus clientes, Torres regresa con un nuevo proyecto: una película llamada Problemista, que se estrenó con excelentes críticas en el Festival de Cine SXSW a principios de este año.

Problemista cuenta la historia de Alejandro, un aspirante a diseñador de juguetes que vive en Nueva York y que tiene problemas para renovar su visado de trabajo. Su única esperanza es ayudar a una excéntrica artista interpretada por Tilda Swinton, que le encarga resolver una serie de acertijos y misterios. La película es una aventura surrealista que explora los desafíos del inmigrante en Estados Unidos y el poder de la imaginación.

La película está basada en parte en la propia experiencia de Torres, que se mudó a Nueva York para estudiar literatura y que siempre quiso dedicarse a la comedia. Su estilo se caracteriza por incorporar elementos fantásticos y melancólicos, así como objetos cotidianos que adquieren un significado especial. Algunos de sus sketches más famosos son “Papyrus”, sobre la tipografía de la película Avatar, y “Wells for Boys”, sobre un juguete para niños sensibles.

Problemista es una producción de A24, la compañía detrás de películas como Lady Bird, Moonlight y The Lighthouse. El elenco incluye también a RZA, Catalina Saavedra, Larry Owens, Greta Lee e Isabella Rossellini. La película se estrenará el 4 de agosto.
