Miss Estados Unidos de 2019 se suicida arrojándose desde su edificio en Nueva York

La que fuera Miss Estados Unidos en 2019, Cheslie Kryst, murió este domingo 30 de enero al arrojarse desde la ventana de su apartamento en Manhattan, según la policía neoyorquina, que confirmó su muerte a varios medios.

El cadáver de Kryst fue encontrado a las 7 de la mañana en el Edificio Orion de la calle 42, un lujoso rascacielos de esta zona del centro de Manhattan cerca de Times Square donde ella residía en el piso número 60.

Kryst, que tenía 30 años, colaboraba actualmente en el programa de variedades Extra, cuyos productores emitieron un comunicado en el que dijeron sentirse devastados y dijeron que ella era “una parte muy querida de la gran familia de Extra”.

Nacida en Michigan, había estudiado en una escuela de negocios y en una facultad de Derecho, y antes de presentarse al concurso de belleza ejerció como abogada, además de fundar el blog de moda White Collar Glam.

Kryst había publicado en Instagram horas antes: “Que este día te traiga descanso y paz”.

Era una apasionada defensora de la reforma de la justicia penal y había trabajado gratuitamente para clientes que cumplían excesivas penas de prisión por delitos de drogas de poca monta.

Sus familiares, por su parte, pidieron intimidad en estos momentos de amargura. “Con devastación y gran dolor, compartimos el fallecimiento de nuestra querida Cheslie”, dijo su familia en un comunicado. “Su gran luz fue la que inspiró a otros en todo el mundo con su belleza y fuerza. Se preocupaba, amaba, reía y brillaba”.

“Cheslie encarnaba el amor y servía a los demás, ya sea a través de su trabajo como abogada que luchaba por la justicia social, como Miss USA y como presentadora en EXTRA. Pero, sobre todo, como hija, hermana, amiga, mentora y colega, sabemos que su impacto perdurará.”
