Sabías qué la naturaleza mide la velocidad de tu muerte según estudios

Cuando llega la hora, la muerte no negocia. Pero, más allá de suspender la oscilación respiratoria y cerrarnos los ojos, ¿cómo se propaga la muerte en nuestro interior y cuánto tiempo tarda en tomarnos?

Un grupo de investigadores de la Universidad de Stanford ha atestiguado y medido este minucioso proceso. La muerte nos abraza siguiendo la dinámica de una “ola de activación”. Es decir, va envolviéndonos mediante una especie de reacción en multicadena; se propaga irrefrenable y armónica, perfecta.

Para comprobarlo, los científicos utilizaron citoplasma (el líquido al interior de una célula, extraído de óvulos de rana). Una vez que detonaron la apoptosis o muerte celular, el trayecto de esta “señal de muerte” fue evidenciado mediante una técnica de fluorescencia. Así pudieron no sólo contemplar el desdoblamiento de la ausencia de vida, sino también medir su ritmo.

La muerte avanza 30 micrómetros por minuto, algo más o menos equivalente a 2 milímetros por hora. Al menos esa es la velocidad con la cual se propaga al interior de una célula de óvulo de rana –que mide en promedio 1.2 milímetros–.
