Después de años de rumores en torno a su sexualidad, el actor Kevin Spacey se declaró abiertamente gay, pero lo hizo en medio de una disculpa después de que otro actor lo acusara de acoso sexual. En redes sociales, ya le llueven críticas por sus acciones.
En una entrevista publicada por BuzzFeed, el actor Anthony Rapp, que participa actualmente en la serie “Star Trek: Discovery”, confesó que en 1986 Kevin Spacey lo invitó a una fiesta en su departamento de Manhattan. Según relató Rapp, él era el único adolescente en el lugar y pasó la mayor parte del tiempo viendo televisión en una recámara. Cuando terminó la fiesta, Spacey, de entonces 26 años, entró a esa habitación y se le acercó inapropiadamente.
Rapp, que entonces tenía 14 años, dijo que Kevin se le puso encima y trató de seducirlo.
En aquella época, tanto Spacey como Rapp actuaban en obras de Broadway, pero según publicó Kevin en Facebook, él no recuerda el incidente. Aun así, ofreció una disculpa escrita.
“Siento mucho respeto y admiración por Anthony Rapp como actor. Estoy más que horrorizado por escuchar su historia. Honestamente no recuerdo el encuentro, que debió ser hace 30 años”, expresó Spacey en su mensaje compartido en la red social.
“Pero si me comporté como él describe, le debo una sincera disculpa por lo que pudo ser un comportamiento de borracho profundamente inapropiado, y lamento que haya tenido que cargar con los sentimientos que él describe durante todos estos años”, agregó.
Pero el mensaje del actor que ahora tiene 58 años no paró allí. “Esta historia me alentó a hablar sobre otras cosas de mi vida. Sé que hay historias sobre mí y que algunas han sido alimentadas por el hecho de que soy tan protector de mi privacidad. Como bien lo saben los más cercanos a mí, en mi vida he tenido relaciones tanto con hombres como mujeres. He amado y he tenido encuentros románticos con hombres durante mi vida, y ahora elijo vivir como un hombre gay”, aseguró el actor que ha protagonizado “House of Cards”.
“Quiero lidiar con esto de forma abierta y honesta y eso comienza examinando mi propio comportamiento”, concluyó la estrella de Hollywood. Sin embargo, su sinceridad no fue bien recibida por muchos, particularmente por lo inoportuno de su confesión como homosexual.

Tras toda la polémica, Rapp tuiteó el domingo que dio a conocer estos hechos motivado por quienes en recientes días han estado han estado haciendo públicas sus historias de acoso sexual en contra del productor de Hollywood Harvey Weinstein.
“Hablé sobre mi historia, por todas los valientes, mujeres y hombres, que han hablado (…), para traer esperanza y ojalá hacer una diferencia, como ellos han hecho conmigo”, escribió el actor.
