La Corte Suprema de Justicia con el apoyo de la Agencia de los Estados Unidos para el Desarrollo Internacional, inauguraron la readecuación de la Oficina de Probidad. El equipamiento y el fortalecimiento de dicha unidad, esto con el objetivo de combatir la corrupción en el país.
Además del cambio en la infraestructura, equipo informativo e instalaciones eléctricas, también se está capacitando al recurso humano en temas como Combate a la Corrupción, Delitos de Cuello Blanco, Lavado de Dinero y Activos, Técnicas de Investigación Financiera y Auditoria Gubernamental, entre otros.
El Presidente de la Corte Suprema de Justicia Armando Pineda, aseguro que con estas nuevas instalaciones, ahora se podrán recibir declaraciones de forma privada, lo que garantizara que no haya manera de que terceras personas puedan conocer del caso.
Por su parte la Embajadora de Estados Unidos Jean Manes sostuvo, que el enriquecimiento ilícito es uno de los síntomas de la corrupción que existe en El Salvador y también en muchas otras naciones. Se estima que el costo de la corrupción a nivel global es de 1 billón de dólares, y 67 de 144 países encuestados por el Foro Económico Global han determinado que la corrupción es uno de los tres retos principales para el crecimiento económico.
Es un problema contra el cual debemos luchar constantemente porque se convierte en una plaga para todo país si no la combate con suficiente urgencia. Esta lucha no es responsabilidad de un solo organismo, todos tienen un rol que jugar, porque la justicia se hace en colaboración de la Policía, la Fiscalía, las Cortes, y otras instituciones que tienen como objetivo servir los intereses de sus ciudadanos.
La corrupción socava las bases del gobierno, paraliza todas sus ramas y afecta a los más vulnerables. En El Salvador lo vemos cuando niños y niñas no tienen acceso a la infraestructura adecuada para su educación. Lo vemos cuando pacientes no tienen suficiente acceso a los medicamentos.
Lo vemos en los casos de impunidad y cuando políticos anteponen sus intereses en vez de servir a su pueblo. La transparencia y la rendición de cuentas es fundamental para recuperar la confianza de los ciudadanos, y para que El Salvador pueda salir adelante como país, el Gobierno necesita la confianza de sus ciudadanos.
