Un comentario de “No mires arriba” tiene una explicación más profunda de lo que parece

Desde finales del año pasado y el comienzo de 2022, uno de los temas de conversación recurrente en redes sociales y quizá en otros espacios es la película No mires arriba. La producción de Netflix es una sátira hacia distintos comportamientos contemporáneos, desde el ensimismamiento de los seres humanos, motivados por las redes sociales y otros factores, hasta los pulsos económicos entre unos y otros.

Dentro del relato de No mires arriba, uno de los chistes más usados surgió de un conflicto entre Kate Dibiasky, interpretada por Jennifer Lawrence, y el General Themes, actuado por Paul Guilfoyle. Mientras Kate espera junto con el Doctor Mindy (Leonardo DiCaprio) para ser atendidos en la Casa Blanca, el General Themes les ofrece algo de comida y les cobra diez dólares. Hasta acá, no hay nada extraño. ¿Cuál es el detalle que incomodó a Kate? La comida, dentro de la Casa Blanca, es gratis. 

Por tanto, Kate vuelve una y otra vez sobre este momento durante la pregunta. La científica no consigue entender por qué el general les cobró por algo que para él no tuvo ningún costo. Dentro de las posibles interpretaciones que se pueden hacer de esto, destacan al menos dos: la influencia de lo militar por sobre lo civil y otro proporcionada por el articulista Kevin Erdmann en Screen Rant, relacionada con la codicia. 

Una posible explicación a uno de los chistes de No mires arriba:

Kevin Erdmann trató el momento y el uso del chiste durante No mires arriba. Uno de los puntos que toma dentro de su análisis es cuando Kate está conversando con Yule, el personaje interpretado por Timothée Chalamet. Ella le explica que debió haber sido una suerte de juego de poder, debido a que el general Themes no necesitaba ese dinero. Erdmann interpreta esto como uno de los mensajes implícitos en la producción: “Con toda probabilidad, el cobro general por comida gratis está ciertamente en línea con el mensaje central de la película sobre que los ricos y poderosos toman lo que quieren porque pueden, independientemente de las consecuencias o el impacto en el bien común”.
