Suspenden a un profesor por llevar a estudiantes a un club nudista

Richard Glenn, profesor de ciencias de la computación de 55 años, fue sancionado en el Reino Unido por su comportamiento durante un viaje con estudiantes de entre 16 y 18 años a Costa Rica. En los próximos tres años no podrá dar clases y solo en abril del 2024 tendrá la posibilidad de pedir que se anule la sanción.

En julio del 2019 se realizó el viaje de tres semanas, tras el cual se inició la investigación. Durante la exposición ante el panel de la Secretaría de Estado para la Educación encargado de juzgarlo, se supo que, entre otros hechos, se había emborrachado frente a sus alumnos y los había amenazado. “Voy a patear tu maldita cabeza” y “voy a matarte”, dijo, aunque luego argumentó que no recordaba los hechos. Sin embargo, admitió que había tenido una conducta profesional inaceptable.

Según se indicó, la líder del viaje fue la que reveló lo que sucedía cuando descubrió que los alumnos, que eran menores de edad, tenían tickets para consumir bebidas alcohólicas en un club nudista. Además, Glenn “expuso su cuerpo desnudo a la líder del viaje en la habitación de hotel”.

Por estas actitudes, al sexto día del viaje lo enviaron de vuelta al Reino Unido, donde fue expulsado de la escuela Longridge Towers, en el noreste inglés, en la que había trabajado durante 12 años.

Finalmente, Glenn fue acusado de haber estado “varias veces bajo la influencia del alcohol”, lo que no le permitía estar “en condiciones de tomar decisiones o actuar adecuadamente”, por lo que se le prohibió trabajar como docente de manera indefinida. Solo en abril del 2024 podrá tramitar la anulación del fallo. “Si lo solicita, se reunirá un grupo especial para examinar si la orden de prohibición debe anularse”, explicaron las autoridades.

En caso de no hacerlo, quedará inhabilitado para enseñar en escuelas de manera indefinida.
