Por caída de Facebook, Zuckerberg pierde 5,900 millones de dólares

Según cifras de Forbes, este descenso supone que la fortuna de Zuckerberg haya quedado en 117,000 millones de dólares

La fortuna del consejero delegado de Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, se vio reducida este lunes en unos 5,900 millones de dólares tras una mala sesión en Wall Street en la que la red social, afectada por un escándalo sobre sus prácticas poco éticas y por una interrupción mundial de sus servicios, cayó cerca de un 4.9 %.

Según cifras de Forbes, este descenso supone que la fortuna de Zuckerberg haya quedado en 117,000 millones de dólares, lo que lo relega al sexto puesto de las personas más ricas del mundo.

Bloomberg, por su parte, calcula que el creador de Facebook acumula ahora 121,000 millones de dólares, por lo que sería el quinto más rico del planeta, por detrás de Bill Gates.

En total, Facebook ha perdido un 7.74 % en Wall Street en los últimos cinco días, y más de un 13 % en el último mes.

Las acciones de la red social se vieron lastradas este lunes en el parqué neoyorquino por la interrupción del servicio de Facebook, Instagram y WhatsApp a nivel mundial, un incidente que se ha prolongado durante varias horas y del que hasta el momento se desconoce la causa.

Además, la empresa se ha visto gravemente afectada por información que empezó a sacar a la luz hace tres semanas el Wall Street Journal, que revela que los directivos de Facebook saben que las plataformas de la empresa (Instagram, WhatsApp y Messenger, además de la propia red social) son, en muchos casos, nocivas para los usuarios.

La situación se ha visto agravada después de que la informante responsable de filtrar los documentos a la prensa, la exempleada de Facebook Frances Haugen, de 37 años, diera este domingo una entrevista al popular programa televisivo estadounidense ’60 Minutes’.

Haugen, que renunció en abril pasado a su puesto en el equipo encargado de proteger los procesos electorales en la red social, explicó en esa entrevista que durante su tiempo en Facebook se sorprendió por la falta de voluntad por parte de la empresa para solucionar problemas que estaban causando daño a los usuarios, y de los que la firma tenía constancia, pues siempre primaba el criterio del beneficio empresarial.
