La atleta olímpica que recibirá una nueva medalla después de que un alcalde mordiera la suya

Una campeona olímpica recibirá una nueva medalla de oro después de que el alcalde de su ciudad natal mordiera la primera que le habían entregado.

Takashi Kawamura, alcalde de la ciudad japonesa de Nagoya, causó enojo en redes sociales la semana pasada cuando se bajó la mascarilla y mordió la medalla de la atleta de sóftbol Miu Goto en una ceremonia para celebrar la victoria de Japón sobre Estados Unidos en la final de sóftbol femenino.

El alcalde fue acusado de ignorar las restricciones de covid-19 y de una “falta de respeto”. Además, los usuarios de las redes sociales dijeron que el acto fue antihigiénico y descortés con la atleta.

“Además de mostrar una falta de respeto por los atletas, mordió la medalla a pesar de que [los deportistas] se las ponen ellos mismos durante las ceremonias de entrega para prevenir contagios. Lo siento, no puedo entenderlo”, escribió el esgrimista medallista de plata japonés Yuki Ota en Twitter.
