Ordenan a Twitter entregar información a Elon Musk sobre exdirectivo vinculado con cuentas falsas

La Justicia de EE.UU. emitió una orden que establece que Twitter debe entregarle a Elon Musk documentación de un exdirectivo de la compañía, que fue mencionado por el magnate como una figura importante en el cálculo de las cuentas falsas que existen en la plataforma. La cuestión sobre la veracidad de las cuentas es una de las claves para que se pueda concretar acuerdo de compra, anunciado en abril pasado, por 44.000 millones de dólares.

Kathaleen McCormick, jueza de Delaware, determinó el lunes 15 de agosto que Twitter debe recopilar, revisar y presentar documentos del exgerente general de Productos de Consumo, Kayvon Beykpour, quien se alejó de la empresa luego de que se anunciara la adquisición por parte de Musk.

Beykpour fue descrito en los documentos judiciales del magnate como uno de los ejecutivos “más íntimamente involucrados” con la determinación de la cantidad de cuentas falsas en la red social.

Por otra parte, la jueza McCormick rechazó el pedido de Musk de acceder a la documentación de otras 21 personas que tenían el control sobre información relevante.

Después de llegar a un acuerdo de compra, el director ejecutivo de Tesla acusó a Twitter de fraude por tergiversar el número de usuarios activos reales en la plataforma, lo que fue negado por la empresa. “Si Twitter simplemente proporciona su método de comprobación de 100 cuentas y [muestra] cómo se confirma que son reales, el acuerdo debería seguir adelante en los términos originales”, afirmó el empresario. Además, advirtió que si los registros fuesen falsificados debería suspenderse el convenio comercial.

En ese sentido, el 8 de julio Musk canceló el trato de adquisición de la red social debido al “incumplimiento sustancial de múltiples disposiciones” por parte de Twitter, tras no responder a sus solicitudes de información sobre la cantidad de cuentas falsas o de ‘spam’.

Por su parte, la compañía acusó a Musk de no cumplir con lo pactado, por lo que pretende que la Justicia le ordene completar la adquisición a un precio de 54,20 dólares por acción.
