Inflación se elevó a 9% interanual en el Reino Unido

Las críticas están en aumento en el país por lo que varias oenegés están denunciando como una acción insuficiente por parte del gobierno en la crisis del coste de la vida, en un momento en que millones de británicos se ven obligados a tener bien contada su comida o su calefacción.

El índice de inflación se disparó a 9% interanual en abril en el Reino Unido, lo que ha sido un récord en 40 años debido a los precios de la energía, lo que empeora la crisis del costo de vida.

A finales de marzo la inflación en los 12 meses anteriores se había situado en 7%, precisó el miércoles la Oficina de Estadísticas Nacionales (ONS) en su informe mensual.

La ONS destacó que las cifras de abril han sido las más altas desde que existen estadísticas sobre inflación en el país, que fue por el año 1989, pero según estimaciones este índice “debe haber sido el más elevado (…) desde 1982”.

“La inflación subió con fuerza en abril, impulsada por un brusco aumento de los precios de la electricidad y el gas, debido a un incremento en el límite gubernamental a las tarifas”, comentó Grant Fitzner, economista jefe de la ONS.

‘También continuaron los abruptos aumentos interanuales del coste de los metales, los productos químicos y el petróleo crudo, así como los precios más altos de los productos que salen de las fábricas”, añadió.
