“Si es posible, deje a sus hijos en casa” dijo el ministro de Austria luego de un ataque terrorista

El ministro del Interior de Austria ha pedido a los padres en la capital que no envíen a sus hijos a la escuela el día después de que lo que las autoridades llaman un ataque “terrorista” sacudiera Viena. Un sospechoso todavía anda suelto.

“Si es posible, deje a sus hijos en casa” el martes, dijo el ministro del Interior, Karl Nehammer, a los periodistas en una conferencia de prensa poco después de la medianoche.

La policía aún desconoce el paradero de uno de los dos presuntos atacantes, agregó. Al menos un atacante está huyendo.

Nehammer no proporcionó el número exacto de víctimas resultantes de los ataques que se habían informado en seis escenas del crimen en el área alrededor de la ciudad vieja de Viena. Solo dijo que  “varias personas” murieron y varias resultaron heridas.

El primer ataque ocurrió alrededor de las 8 pm hora local del lunes, frente al Stadttempel, la sinagoga judía de Viena que data de la década de 1820. Al menos dos civiles murieron durante el tiroteo. Uno de los atacantes fue detenido por la policía.

Nehammer también instó a la gente a mantenerse alejada del centro de la ciudad, donde se está llevando a cabo la persecución.

Austria entró en un bloqueo por coronavirus a las 12 a.m. del martes. La medida fue anunciada el sábado debido a lo que el canciller austriaco Sebastian Kurz describió como un “aumento exponencial” en los casos de Covid-19 en las últimas semanas. Las restricciones verán un toque de queda vigente de 8 p.m. a 6 a.m. hasta el 30 de noviembre. 

Como parte de las amplias medidas de bloqueo, los estudiantes de universidades y escuelas secundarias están cambiando a la educación a distancia. Sin embargo, las guarderías y otras escuelas deben mantener sus puertas abiertas.
