El presidente se resistió a invitar a Biden a la Casa Blanca para una reunión postelectoral que es tradición. Tampoco lo llamó por teléfono. Y no se espera que lo reciba en la Casa Blanca el día de la toma de posesión. Trump sostiene en privado que venció a Biden, según personas que han discutido el asunto con él.
En lugar de darle la bienvenida a Biden a la Casa Blanca y compartir un automóvil en la ceremonia de toma de posesión, Trump planea salir de la residencia en la mañana del 20 de enero. Está previsto que participe en una despedida en la Base Conjunta Andrews y vuele a Palm Beach a bordo del Air Force One. Todo antes de que Biden se posesione como el presidente número 46 de EE.UU. Incluso el uso de Blair House, el alojamiento de invitados presidenciales, quedó en manos del Departamento de Estado en la víspera de la inauguración para ofrecerlo formalmente a los Biden.
