ONU confirmó que fuerzas de seguridad iraníes utilizan municiones reales contra protestantes

La ONU confirmó hoy que las fuerzas de seguridad iraníes han utilizado en ciertos momentos municiones reales contra los participantes en las protestas antigubernamentales que empezaron como reacción a la muerte en el interior de una comisaria de una joven detenida por llevar mal puesto el pañuelo en su cabeza.

“Las fuerzas de seguridad han respondido en ocasiones con municiones reales”, declaró hoy en Ginebra la portavoz de la Oficina de la ONU para los Derechos Humanos, Ravina Shamdasani.

Mientras que las autoridades iraníes han admitido hasta ahora 41 muertos -además de 1.186 detenidos en los disturbios-, Shamdasani dijo que una oenegé confiable y que recoge datos de manera rigurosa ha señalado que los muertos son al menos 76, en once provincias.

La ONU denunció que, en paralelo a la violenta respuesta a las manifestaciones, las comunicaciones por cable e inalámbricas son cortadas continuamente, al igual que el acceso a internet y a distintas redes sociales, una táctica habitual de los regímenes autoritarios para evitar la organización de la ciudadanía y la difusión de denuncias.

“Nos inquietan los comentarios denigrantes de algunos líderes y el uso aparentemente desproporcionado e innecesario de la fuerza contra los manifestantes”, señaló Shamdasani.

Según la Oficina de Derechos Humanos, entre los arrestados figuran defensores de los derechos humanos, abogados, activistas sociales y una veintena de periodistas.

Asimismo, denunció la continúa impunidad de la que gozan los responsables de las muertes de manifestantes y de otras violaciones de los derechos humanos, tanto en el contexto de las actuales protestas como en las ocurridas en noviembre de 2019, julio de 2021 y el pasado mayo.

Shamdasani lamentó no poder ofrecer más detalles de esas violaciones porque el gobierno no permite que observadores de su organismos entren al país, por lo que sus informaciones provienen de organizaciones locales que gozan de su confianza por el trabajo escrupuloso que realizan.

El Gobierno iraní no ha respondido a las comunicaciones de la Oficina de Derechos Humanos pidiéndole que ponga alto a la violencia y respete el derecho de los ciudadanos a reunirse y a manifestar de forma pacífica.
