México iniciará producción de vacuna de AstraZeneca

El secretario de Relaciones Exteriores, Marcelo Ebrard, indicó en su cuenta de Twitter que México muy pronto iniciará la producción de la vacuna de AstraZeneca contra el COVID-19.

México otorgó este lunes 4 de enero la autorización de emergencia para la vacuna contra el COVID-19 desarrollada por el laboratorio AstraZeneca y la Universidad de Oxford, anunció el gobierno.

La Comisión Federal para la Protección contra Riesgos Sanitarios (Cofepris) “autorizó la vacuna de AstraZeneca para uso de emergencia contra el virus SARS-CoV-2“, señaló en Twitter Hugo López-Gatell, subsecretario de Salud y vocero de la estrategia gubernamental contra el nuevo coronavirus.

México tiene un acuerdo con la farmacéutica británica para contar con 77.4 millones de dosis entre marzo y agosto de este año para inmunizar a 38.7 millones de mexicanos.

Poco antes de que finalizará el 2020, Reino Unido se convirtió en el primer país del mundo en aprobar la vacuna desarrollada por la Universidad de Oxford y AstraZeneca. En Latinoamérica, Argentina y México producirán la vacuna.

A fines del año pasado, México se convirtió en el primer país latinoamericano en empezar la vacunación de su población contra el COVID-19.
