Más de 50 millones de personas podrían ser afectadas por tormenta invernal en EE.UU

Más de 50 millones de personas en todo el este de Estados Unidos están bajo alertas de tiempo invernal este lunes luego de que un enorme sistema de tormentas dejara su huella desde Florida hasta Maine, generando tornados, lluvia helada y fuertes nevadas en toda la región.

Después de causar cortes de energía generalizados y cierres de carreteras importantes en todo el sureste el domingo, la tormenta invernal cambiará de rumbo y llevará intensas nevadas al noreste.

Pittsburgh y Buffalo, en el estado Nueva York, podrían ver de 20 a 30 centímetros de nieve, dijo el meteorólogo de CNN Michael Guy. También se esperan más de 30 centímetros de nieve intensa en la parte superior del valle de Ohio a través de la región inferior de los Grandes Lagos el lunes, según el Servicio Meteorológico Nacional.

El aire frío detrás del sistema de tormentas y una inmersión ártica previa en el noreste mantendrán las temperaturas bajo cero en esa región hasta el miércoles.
