El titular de la Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores, Marcelo Ebrard, llegó a las instalaciones para recibir el embarque, uno de los primeros en arribar a América Latina, pues México será el primer país de la región en aplicar el antídoto.

Ebrard anunció el martes que serían hasta 1.4 millones de dosis las que llegarán a México hasta el 31 de enero gracias a un puente aéreo entre México y Bélgica. Por su parte, el presidente Andrés Manuel López Obrador, informó desde Palacio Nacional que mañana se iniciará con el Plan Nacional de Vacunación contra la COVID-19.
“Hoy van a definir la estrategia, según me informaron es que resguarden la vacunas las Fuerzas Armadas, va haber una vigilancia, no excesiva, sino la necesaria, van a ir a un sitio con las condiciones necesarias para mantenerlas, y mañana se va a empezar a vacunar, que es todavía de ensayo… de calibración”, indicó el mandatario mexicano.
A las 8:49 horas del 23 de diciembre, funcionarios mexicanos arribaron al aeropuerto de la Ciudad de México, en donde esperaron la llegada de la vacuna. Entre los asistentes se encontraron el canciller Marcelo Ebrard, el subsecretario Hugo López-Gatell, el secretario de Hacienda, Arturo Herrera, el de Salud, Jorge Alcocer, y la subsecretaria para Asuntos Multilaterales de la SRE, Martha Delgado.
A las 9:01 horas, el primer embarque de 3,000 dosis aterrizó a bordo de un avión de carga de la empresa DHL. En su cuenta de Twitter, el canciller Ebrard publicó: “Lo dicho: primer embarque de vacunas Pfizer-BioNTech llegando a México!!!”. Minutos más tarde se llevó a cabo, con sumo cuidado, la descarga de los antídotos.
Posteriormente, el canciller Ebrard hizo entrega de este primer lote al secretario de Salud, Jorge Alcocer. También se compartieron imágenes a través de la cuenta oficial de la SRE en donde además de la presencia de los funcionarios se pudo apreciar la participación de integrantes del Ejército Mexicano.
*Primero será para los trabajadores de la salud, que se ubican en el primer frente de lucha contra COVID-19 de (diciembre de 2020 – febrero 2021)
*Luego será el personal de salud restante y personas de 60 años y más (febrero – abril 2021)
