Lanzan al espacio 49 satélites banda ancha desde Florida

Un cohete Falcon 9 de la firma privada SpaceX despegó este martes desde Cabo Cañaveral, en Florida (EEUU), con 49 satélites Starlink de banda ancha de internet a bordo tras encontrar condiciones atmosféricas favorables para la misión.

Según detalla SpaceX, una empresa creada por el emprendedor y magnate de origen sudafricano Elon Musk, la misión tendrá como objetivo colocar los satélites Starlink en una “órbita terrestre baja”.

Esta órbita, amplía por su parte la web especializada spaceflightnow.com, y varía en altitud entre 130 y 210 millas (entre 210 y 339 kilómetros).

La misión, denominada Starlink 4-6, es el tercer lanzamiento en 2022 del Falcon 9 de SpaceX.

La nave partió desde la plataforma 39A en el Centro Espacial Kennedy de la NASA, en Florida, a las 21.02 hora local del este estadounidense de este martes (02.02 GMT del miércoles), para iniciar una secuencia de lanzamiento de 15 minutos antes de desplegar los 49 satélites Starlink en órbita.

Pocos minutos después, el propulsor del cohete Falcon 9 volvió a la tierra para su posterior reutilización.

El propulsor recuperable de la primera etapa, el número B1060, realizó con este su décimo viaje y aterrizó de vuelta en una plataforma no tripulada situada en el Océano Atlántico, al norte de las Bahamas.

Según las estadísticas proporcionadas por la web especializada spaceflightnow.com, se trata del lanzamiento número 137 de un cohete Falcon 9 desde 2010 y del número 35 del mismo propulsor llevando satélites del programa Starlink.

La misión de este martes forma parte del programa “Starlink” que tiene como objetivo poner en órbita un gran número de satélites artificiales para la creación de una red de internet de banda ancha.

Esta misión forma parte de la asociación público-privada de la NASA con SpaceX, la compañía de cohetes fundada en 2002 por Musk, quien también es CEO del fabricante de automóviles eléctricos Tesla.
