La Administración Federal de Aviación de EEUU aprobó el primer auto volador

La empresa Alef Aeronautics consiguió la aprobación de la FAA (Administración Federal de Aviación de Estados Unidos), que le otorgó el certificado de navegabilidad a su modelo Armada Model Zero.

Al igual que un dron, este prototipo de automóvil eléctrico es capaz de transitar por la carretera a despegar en un instante.

Se trata de un vehículo eléctrico de despegue y aterrizaje vertical (eVTOL) que cuenta con cuatro ruedas y ocho rotores integrados en su estructura y que también se puede probar en demostraciones de vuelo público por primera vez.

 Para Jim Dukhovny todo esto lo convierte en el “primer automóvil volador real del mundo” en ser certificado por la FAA para volar, ya que otros modelos similares, que han recibido aprobación, pueden volar, pero no pueden actuar como coches: no caben en las carreteras ni en los sitios habituales para aparcarlos. Estamos entusiasmados de recibir esta certificación de la FAA. Nos permite acercarnos a brindar a las personas un viaje más rápido y respetuoso con el medio ambiente, ahorrando horas a las personas y empresas cada semana”, señala Dukhovny.

 A primera vista, el Armada Model Zero, parece un coche normal.

Pero en sus laterales oculta cuatro rotores en la parte trasera y cuatro en la delantera, lo que le permite el despegue y aterrizaje vertical.

En el centro del sistema se encuentra la cabina de pasajeros (máximo dos personas) que bascula para mantener la orientación dependiendo del ángulo de vuelo, ya que una vez en el aire, todo el marco del vehículo gira lateralmente 90 grados para que lo que alguna vez fue la parte delantera y trasera del automóvil se conviertan en dos alas a cada lado de la cabina para lograr la máxima velocidad.
