Italia concedió refugio a Sharbat Gula, la “niña afgana”.

Sharbat Gula, la niña afgana de ojos verdes consiguió asilo con el gobierno Italiano, luego que los talibanes tomaran el poder en Afganistan. El gobierno Italiano intervino después de que Gula pidió ayuda para salir de su País tras la conquista de los talibanes en agosto,según un comunicado, y agregó que su llegada forma parte de un programa más amplio para evacuar e integrar a ciudadanos afganos.

El fotógrafo estadounidense Steve McCurry quien retrato la imagen de Gula cuando era una niña y vivía en un campo de refugiados en la frontera entre Pakistán Afganistán.

Sus sorprendentes ojos verdes, que destacaban en una cara enmarcada por un pañuelo en la cabeza con una mezcla de ferocidad y dolor, la hicieron célebre a nivel internacional, pero su identidad solo se descubrió en 2002, cuando McCurry regresó a la región y la localizó.

En un comunicado en el que anunciaba la llegada de Gulla a Roma, la oficina de Draghi dijo que su fotografía había llegado a “simbolizar las vicisitudes y el conflicto del capítulo de la historia que Afganistán y su pueblo estaban atravesando en ese momento”.

Menciono que había recibido peticiones “de quienes forman parte de la sociedad civil y, en particular, de organizaciones sin ánimo de lucro que trabajan en Afganistán” apoyando la petición de ayuda de Gulla para salir del país.

Italia organizó su viaje a Italia “como parte del programa más amplio de evacuación de ciudadanos afganos y del plan del gobierno para su recepción e integración”, según el comunicado.
