Honduras instala estado de excepción por 30 días

El Gobierno de Honduras impondrá un estado de excepción parcial durante 30 días, principalmente en las dos ciudades más importantes del país, para frenar la violencia criminal y otros delitos como la extorsión, informó este sábado una fuente oficial.

El estado de excepción, que se ejecutará a través de la Policía Nacional, entrará en vigor a las 18.00 hora local del próximo martes (00.00 GMT del miércoles), dijo a los periodistas el portavoz de la Secretaría de Seguridad, Miguel Martínez.

Agregó que oportunamente se dará a conocer los sectores que serán intervenidos, como parte de Plan Nacional contra la Extorsión que puso en marcha a finales de noviembre el Gobierno que preside Xiomara Castro.

Martínez subrayó que la nueva disposición gubernamental está orientada a que vuelva a la normalidad la actividad de muchos negocios y la inversión, que se han visto muy afectadas.

La extorsión en Honduras se ha incrementado en los últimos 20 años, dejando centenares de muertos y en la ruina a miles de micros, pequeños y medianos empresarios, que tuvieron que cerrar sus negocios, mientras que otros se fueron del país.

Muchas de las víctimas mortales eran conductores del transporte urbano, interurbano y de taxis.

Según sus propias denuncias, algunos micros, pequeños y medianos empresarios son víctimas de extorsión hasta por tres bandas criminales.

Martínez señaló que la medida oficial es parte de un “proyecto estratégico” para recuperar el comercio y que no existan más víctimas de la extorsión en el país.

La extorsión es un delito que tiene su mayor incidencia en Tegucigalpa y San Pedro Sula, las dos ciudades más importantes de Honduras.

El informante indicó además que desde que entró en vigor el Plan Nacional contra la Extorsión han sido capturados más de un centenar de pandilleros, desmanteladas varias bandas criminales e incautado armas, municiones, drogas, vehículos y dinero en efectivo.

También han sido detenidas 22 personas en puntos fronterizos, al parecer asociadas a “maras” (pandillas).
