Confirman primera muerte a causa de viruela del mono en Perú

Esta mañana se conoció que una persona de 45 años falleció al ser diagnosticado con la viruela del mono en nuestro país. Se trata de un paciente con complicaciones médicas y que al llegar al hospital su condición ya era reservada.

Según primeras informaciones por parte del doctor Eduardo Farfán, Director del Hospital 2 de Mayo, donde se registró este caso, esta persona sufrió de un shock séptico provocado por esta enfermedad. Sin embargo, detalló que el paciente sufría de VIH y que habia dejado su tratamiento desde hace varios meses, motivo por el cual fue más vulnerable.

Es por eso que señaló que la viruela del mono sería una sub consecuencia de la muerte de este paciente.

“Es un paciente que llegó con enfermedad del VIH y shock séptico llegó a hospitalización pero tras sus complicaciones tuvimos que enviarlo a UCI. Estaba sumamente grave, el antecedente médico es que sufría de VIH, pero lo que más empeoró su estado fue el shock séptico, estaba con una septicemia generalizada”, preció el médico.

“El paciente llegó grave con lesiones a nivel de piel tenía varias puertas de ingreso de gérmenes, tenía problemas pulmonares, razón por la cual se le manejo a nivel de UCI y se le entubó pero estaba sumamente infectado”, agregó el médico.

El Director del Hospital Dos de Mayo, explicó que en este caso específico, el paciente llegó en condiciones muy inestables para su salud y que sus cuadros ya eran irreversibles.

“Esta enfermedad es rápidamente reversible (viruela del mono), el problema que ha sucedido con esta persona es que tenía otras morbilidades como el VIH. Había dejado de tomar el tratamiento que se requiere para este tipo de pacientes, estaba sumamente infectado y los gérmenes se habían esparcido por la piel, tenía problemas pulmonares. Se juntó todo pero eso también se dio por la falta de prevención porque hay muchos pacientes con VIH pero se tratan bien y su enfermedad está controlada”, precisó.
