Juzgado ordena captura del periodista Paolo Lüers por supuesto fraude electoral y negociación con pandillas

El Juzgado Segundo de Instrucción de San Salvador ha emitido una orden de captura contra el periodista Paolo Lüers, quien enfrenta cargos por fraude electoral y supuestas negociaciones con pandillas durante las elecciones presidenciales de 2014.

La decisión judicial, emitida el 20 de diciembre, declaró a Lüers en rebeldía debido a su inaccesibilidad para notificaciones relacionadas con las diligencias de investigación en su contra. La resolución señala que se le imputan los delitos de agrupaciones ilícitas y fraude electoral, y se emitió una orden de captura junto con una medida cautelar que le prohíbe salir del país.

La orden surge después de varios intentos infructuosos de notificar a Lüers sobre una audiencia de revisión de medidas en octubre. El juzgado argumenta que el periodista no ha atendido los llamamientos legales, calificando su comportamiento como evasivo y sugiriendo que tiene conocimiento de su procesamiento.

Hasta el momento, se desconoce si la orden de captura ha sido ejecutada. La acusación implica a varios políticos, incluidos el exministro de Gobernación Arístides Valencia, el exministro de Seguridad Benito Lara, el exalcalde de San Salvador Ernesto Muyshondt, el difunto exalcalde de Ilopango Salvador Ruano, Raúl Mijango y Wilson Alvarado, todos relacionados con la tregua con pandillas durante el gobierno de Mauricio Funes y enfrentando cargos de agrupaciones ilícitas y fraude electoral.

Según la Fiscalía, la tregua durante el mandato de Funes permitió a los políticos percibir el “poder para inclinar la balanza electoral” que tenían las pandillas. La acusación detalla que, durante la tregua, se ofrecieron sumas de dinero a pandilleros para influir en el voto a favor de la fórmula presidencial del FMLN y Arena. En el caso de Arena, la entrega de fondos se habría realizado a través de Paolo Lüers.
