Rihanna dice que la maternidad la impulsó a actuar en “intimidante” Super Bowl

La cantante Rihanna, la estrella invitada este año para el espectáculo del descanso de la Super Bowl, aseguró este jueves que fue la maternidad lo que le dio fuerzas para aceptar participar en un escenario tan “intimidante”.

“Tenía tres meses de posparto y me preguntaba, ¿debería estar tomando decisiones como éstas ahora? Tal vez me arrepienta después”, confesó la cantante en la conferencia de prensa con motivo de su participación en los eventos de la gran final del fútbol americano, que se celebrará el domingo en Glendale (Arizona, EE.UU.).

Pero fue precisamente la maternidad, dijo, lo que le dio la certeza de que era capaz de enfrentar un escenario tan grande como el del evento deportivo, pese a que lleva siete años sin actuar.

“Cuando te conviertes en madre, algo pasa que sientes que puedes hacer cualquier cosa (…); por mucho miedo que me diera, había algo estimulante en el reto que esto supone”, relató la cantante de 34 años.

Rihanna también aseguró que era importante para ella mostrar en uno de los escenarios más importantes del mundo que una mujer negra de un país como Barbados podía llegar tan lejos.

“Represento a inmigrantes de mi país, a mujeres negras de todo el mundo, es importante que la gente vea que hay posibilidades y es un honor para mí ser parte del espectáculo este año”, comentó.

En 2018 Rihanna rechazó el ofrecimiento de formar parte del espectáculo que hoy encabeza en apoyo a la comunidad afroamericana en solidaridad al jugador Colin Kaepernick de los 49ers de San Francisco.

El jugador fue vetado de su equipo en 2016 tras hacer una protesta por la injusticia racial y la brutalidad policial y, en respuesta, varios artistas se negaron a participar en las actuaciones del descanso en los años posteriores.

Esta vez Rihanna ha aceptado y, según explicó, está muy concentrada en los ensayos para este espectáculo, además de reconocer que es muy estricta con los detalles.

“Soy muy mandona y puede ser irritante para los que están a mi alrededor” señaló la cantante, quien justificó esta forma de trabajar porque, si el espectáculo triunfa o fracasa, es su nombre el que lo encabeza.

La Super Bowl LVII de la NFL enfrentará a los Philadelphia Eagles y a los Kansas City Chiefs el próximo domingo en el State Farm Stadium de Glendale.

Además de la actuación principal de Rihanna en el descanso habrá otras antes de que comience el partido.

La actriz y cantante Sheryl Lee Ralph interpretará “Lift Every Voice and Sing”, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds cantará “America the Beautiful” y el artista country Chris Stapleton se encargará de interpretar, como es costumbre, el himno nacional de Estados Unidos.

Rihanna tomará el relevo de Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige y Kendrick Lamar, que fueron los elegidos para el descanso del Super Bowl de 2022, en el que Los Angeles Rams se proclamaron campeones en su casa (el SoFi Stadium de Los Ángeles) al derrotar a los Cincinnati Bengals.
