Justin Bieber vendió su catálogo de música por 200 millones de dólares

Justin Bieber vendió los derechos de todo su catálogo musical a la compañía Hipgnosis Songs Capital por unos 200 millones de dólares, sumándose a una creciente lista de estrellas que en los últimos años han buscado hacer caja de esta manera.

El acuerdo incluye más de 290 temas publicados hasta finales de 2021 por el artista canadiense, según informó Hipgnosis, una firma británica respaldada por el fondo de inversión Blackstone y que es propietaria ya de los derechos de catálogos de otras figuras del pop.

Aunque la compañía no ha dado a conocer los términos económicos de la operación, varios medios como Billboard, Rolling Stone o The Wall Street Journal apuntan que se eleva a unos 200 millones de dólares.

Bieber ha publicado hasta la fecha seis álbumes de estudio, además de varios discos de remezclas y recopilaciones, pero también decenas de singles y colaboraciones con otros artistas que incluyen títulos tan sonados como “Despacito”, junto a Luis Fonsi y Daddy Yankee.

El multimillonario acuerdo para la venta de su catálogo es muy poco habitual para un artista de su edad (28 años) pues la mayor parte de estas grandes operaciones las han protagonizado músicos en la parte final de su carrera y con un legado musical muy consolidado.

Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young o Sting son algunas de las estrellas que en los últimos años han vendido los derechos de sus canciones por elevadas cantidades a distintas compañías.

Hipgnosis, por su parte, se ha convertido recientemente en una de las firmas más activas en este ámbito, haciéndose con los catálogos de artistas como Shakira o Justin Timberlake, entre muchos otros.
