Charli D’Amelio estrella de TikTok es la primera en alcanzar los 100 millones de seguidores

Una niña de 16 años se ha convertido en la primera usuaria de TikTok en cruzar la marca de los 100 millones de suscriptores.

Charli D’Amelio, de Norwalk, Connecticut, alcanzó el hito después de un año y medio en la aplicación.

Se produce días después de una controversia sobre su comportamiento en un video de YouTube.

En el primer episodio de la serie de telerrealidad de su familia, Dinner with the D’Amelio, los fanáticos afirmaron que la estrella actuó irrespetuosamente hacia el chef personal que les preparó la cena.

Más de 600.000 fanáticos la dejaron de seguir rápidamente en protesta.

Sin embargo, la controversia se calmó luego de que D’Amelio compartiera un video en el que se disculpaba por sus acciones y prometía hacerlo mejor.

Se dirigió a Twitter para agradecer a los fans por su logro récord el domingo: “100 millones de personas que me apoyan … Realmente no puedo creer que esto sea real”, escribió.

Ofertas multimillonarias

La joven de 16 años comenzó, como muchos lo hicieron en TikTok, compartiendo videos de ella misma bailando en su habitación.

Su perfil tanto en TikTok como fuera de la plataforma se ha disparado en el último año. Se convirtió en la primera persona en alcanzar los 50 millones de suscriptores en abril.

Hizo su debut cinematográfico en la película animada Stardog y Turbocat del 2019, actuando junto a Luke Evans, Bill Nighy y Gemma Arterton.

La estrella de TikTok ha colaborado con marcas globales en moda y líneas de maquillaje, y también tomó una bebida con su nombre en Dunkin ‘Donuts.

Su primer libro, Charli: The Ultimate Guide To Keeping It Real, se lanzará a finales de este año.

Según Forbes, estos acuerdos le han valido aproximadamente 4 millones de dólares solo  en el último año.

D’Amelio se encontró en el centro de otra controversia a principios de este año cuando se le atribuyó falsamente la creación de la tendencia de baile “Renegade”, algo que en realidad vino de Jalaiah Harmon, una adolescente negra de Atlanta, Georgia.

Si bien D’Amelio nunca afirmó haber creado el baile, la confusión provocó afirmaciones de que el algoritmo de TikTok mostraba un sesgo racial no intencional.
