Precio de Bitcoin podría bajar a cero

El Banco de Inglaterra cree que el crecimiento de las Criptomonedas amenaza el sistema financiero.

Cunliffe dijo que deben estar listos para cuando Bitcoin “se convierta en un problema mayor”.

El Vicegobernador del Banco Central de Inglaterra, Sir Jon Cunliffe, lanzó nuevas advertencias a los inversionistas de Bitcoin (BTC) y otras Criptomonedas.

Este martes 14 de diciembre el funcionario declaró en un programa de la BBC que estos activos podrían perder todo su valor.

Su precio el de Bitcoin puede variar considerablemente y, teórica o prácticamente, podría bajar a cero, dijo Cunliffe en coincidencia con el reporte de estabilidad publicado por el Banco de Inglaterra este lunes 13 de diciembre.

Además, señaló que el rápido crecimiento de las criptomonedas podría poner en riesgo el sistema financiero británico, ya que una caída drástica generaría un efecto dominó.

Creo que el punto en el que uno se preocupa es cuando se integre en el sistema financiero. Una gran corrección de precios podría afectar realmente a otros mercados y afectar a los actores establecidos del mercado financiero, sostuvo Cunliffe.

Agregó que aún el riesgo no está aquí, pero se necesita tiempo para diseñar estándares y regulaciones.

En su opinión, el Banco de Inglaterra debe estar preparado, con un marco regulatorio que permita contener los riesgos, para el momento en que bitcoin se convierta en un problema mucho mayor.

Cunliffe estima que el punto de riesgo está cerca, por lo que instó a los reguladores y legisladores a pensar en ello.

En esta misma línea, el Banco de Inglaterra señaló en el Reporte de Estabilidad correspondiente a diciembre de 2021, que el 95% de las criptomonedas, incluyendo bitcoin, no están respaldadas por activos subyacentes y en consecuencia, no tienen valor intrínseco.

Es por ello que afirma que estos activos son vulnerables a importantes correcciones de precios y por lo tanto, los inversionistas pueden perder toda su inversión.
