UTEC ganó e igualó la punta

Venció 10 a 4 a Shopping Center para emparejarse con Halcones en la vanguardia. Santa Tecla y la novena de los almacenes les siguen a un juego. Este sábado doble jornada en la electrizante fase crucial de la ronda eliminatoria.

Carlos Hernández, Prensa LNB.- Un oportuno rally de ocho carreras en la octava entrada le dio la victoria 10 carreras a 4 a las Águilas de la Universidad Tecnológica (UTEC) sobre la novena de Shopping Center, con lo que los universitarios igualaron la punta de la tabla en la recta final de la ronda clasificatoria de la XXVI edición de la Liga Nacional de Béisbol, en la que se disputa la Copa FESA 2021.

Con el resultado, Halcones y la UTEC están igualados en la primera casilla con récord de 12 victorias por 11 reveses; mientras Santa Tecla y Shopping Center los siguen a un juego de diferencia con registro de 11 lauros por 12 caídas. A cada conjunto le restan un total de cuatro juegos de la ronda regular por lo que cada choque se disputa como si fuera un juego decisivo.

La fase culminante del torneo prosigue este sábado 15 de mayo con dos encuentros en el Parque Saturnino Bengoa. A las 2:30 pm se miden Halcones vs Shopping Center; mientras que a las 6 se enfrentarán Santa Tecla vs UTEC.

La novena de los almacenes abrió el marcador ante el ganador haitiano Williams Louíco (7-1) luego que el dominicano Gerard Ferrer ligara doble al jardín central y más tarde anotó en el turno de David Fuentes por error del antesalista quisqueyano Reggie Cerdá.

Los estudiantes voltearon la pizarra en la alta de la quinta entrada ante el abridor dominicano Francisco Mena con triple de Santiago Velasco, que remolcó a sus compañeros Wirkin Estévez (hit a la izquierda) y Ronald López (boleto).

Pero Shopping Center no tardó en reponerse y en el cierre de la quinta sumaron tres para retomar la ventaja. Otro triple, esta vez de Emerson Bonilla, trajo al plato a Diego Guzmán (hit al centro) y Luis Vázquez (golpeado). En la jugada, Bonilla anotó tras un mal tiro de la defensa para capturarlo en la antesala.

Pero el encuentro se fue por una sola calle en la octava entrada cuando los alados fabricaron ocho anotaciones. Mena dio par de boletos consecutivos, por lo que el manager Jorge Luis Avellán llamó desde el bullpen al debutante Jairo Aparicio (0-1). Carlos Rivas le dio hit a la izquierda para llenar las bases y William Ponce ligó doble de dos carrera para igualar la pizarra.

Cerdá recibió boleto intencional y Estévez trajo una de caballito al gestionar pasaporte. Con la carretera aún congestionada, Ronald López también se embasó por cuatro malas remolcado otra anotación. Adrián Sandoval fue llamado desde el bullpen, pero fue recibido por doble impulsor de dos carreras de Santiago Velasco. Tras el segundo out, José Márquez ligó triple al centro para coronar con dos rayitas el racimo de ocho.
