Tom Brady: de la NFL a la televisión como el comentarista mejor pagado

Tom Brady, considerado el mejor jugador de la historia de la National Football League (NFL), se convertirá en el comentarista mejor pagado de la televisión gracias al contrato que firmó con FOX Sports por 10 años y 375 millones de dólares.

“Nos complace anunciar que, inmediatamente después de su carrera como jugador el siete veces campeón del Super Bowl, Tom Brady, se unirá a nosotros en FOX Sports como nuestro analista principal”, declaró Lachlan Murdoch, director ejecutivo de FOX Corporation en mayo del año pasado.

Tom Brady anunció este miércoles 1 de febrero su retiro de la NFL luego de 23 temporadas en las que obtuvo seis anillos de Super Bowl con los New England Patriots y uno con los Tampa Bay Buccaneers, equipo con el que jugó en la temporada 2022, la última de su carrera.

“Iré al grano de inmediato. Me retiro para siempre”, apuntó el jugador en un corto vídeo publicado a través de redes sociales en el que asegura que, puesto que uno solo escribe un discurso de despedida una vez en la vida, iba a leer el mismo texto del año pasado.

A sus 45 años el exquarterback llegará a la televisión para convertirse en el comentarista mejor pagado por encima de Troy Aikman, expasador y leyenda de los Dallas Cowboys, quien es analista estelar de ESPN, y de Tony Romo, otro exmariscal de campo de Cowboys, quien trabaja para CBS.

El siete veces campeón de la NFL ganará más de 37 millones de dólares al año; cantidad superior a los 18 millones que cobran Aikman y Romo, en sus respectivas cadenas.

En febrero del 2022 Brady dio un primer adiós a la liga, decisión de la que se arrepintió 40 días después para jugar una última campaña con los Buccaneers, equipo con el que fue eliminado en la ronda de comodines por los Cowboys el pasado 16 de enero.

Ante la intención de retirarse mostrada por el mariscal de campo el alo pasado, que entonces tenía 44 años, FOX Sports se adelantó a ESPN en su contratación en mayo de 2022.

La cadena de televisión tiene contemplado que Brady se una al equipo de comentaristas a partir de la temporada 2023.

Fox Sports tiene los derechos para transmitir el Super Bowl LVII entre los Kansas City Chiefs y los Philadelphia Eagles del próximo 12 de febrero; pero aún no ha confirmado al par de comentaristas que narrarán y analizarán dicho partido.
