Eric Calvillo es Campeón de la Conferencia Oeste de la USL.

El Orange County SC, equipo del connacional Salvadoreño Eric Calvillo ganó en penales la final de la Conferencia Oeste al San Antonio FC. Con este triunfo los californianos siguen avanzando en los playoffs de la USL, y el domingo enfrentarán al FC Tampa Bay Rowdies en Florida por el título de los playoffs de la USL.

El encuentro que tuvo récord de asistencia de más de 5 mil aficionados, comenzó con el legionario Calvillo de titular, además de sus compañeros: Patrick Rakovsky en la portería, Kevin Alston, Rob Kierman, Michael Orozco Y Brent Richards en la defensa; Thomas McCabe y Dillon Powers en la contención; Brian Iloski y Mikko Koningas en la creación y Ronaldo Damus en la delantera.

El primer gol del encuentro lo marcó Damus al minuto 39, luego de saque de banda por la derecha de Richards que recorrió hasta el área donde el delantero conectó de primera intención. El encuentro continuó sin ninguna novedad hasta que en el segundo tiempo se marcó el empate.

El tanto vino a través de Marcus Epps, quien recibió un pase largo de Connor Maloney desde la derecha y cabeceó a portería marcando el primero para el San Antonio. Los texanos no se rindieron y tuvieron en un segundo intento, cuando Justin Dhillon se quitó la marca de un jugador del Orance y sacó un pase para Epps, que disparó desde fuera el área, pero su disparo para a pocos centímetros de la portería.

En el tiempo extra, en el minuto 108, los de California estuvieron cerca nuevamente de tomar ventaja en un serie de rebotes y disparos frente a la portería de Jordan Farr, quien los repelió a todos exitosamente. Al final, no se pudo romper el empate y se tuvo que ir a la lotería de penales que definiría al otro finalista de la postemporada de la USL.

Desde los 11 pasos, los representantes del Orange County fueron: Seth Casiple, Dillon Powers, Benjamin Mines, Thomas Enevoldsen y Sean Okoli que marcaron todos sus tiros. Por el otro lado, San Antonio envió a: Connor Maloney, Santiago Patiño, Jasser Khemeri que anotaron en sus oportunidades, sin embargo Justin Dhillon falló su tiro, lo que le dió la victoria a los dirigidos por Richard Chaplow.
