El principal acusado por la muerte del futbolista argentino Emiliano Sala admite que organizó el vuelo irregular que te

Este lunes empezó el juicio y David Henderson, quien coordinó el viaje, afronta cargos por presunta negligencia.

David Henderson, el principal acusado por la muerte del futbolista argentino Emiliano Sala en un accidente aéreo, admitió este lunes que fue él quien organizó el vuelo pese a no tener permiso ni autorización, mientras se desarrolla la primera jornada del juicio en un tribunal de Cardiff (Gales). De esta forma, el implicado modificó su versión preliminar, aunque rechazó haber actuado con negligencia. 

El accidente aéreo, que conmocionó al mundo del fútbol, se produjo el 21 de enero de 2019 en el Canal de la Mancha. El deportista, de 28 años, estaba siendo trasladado a su nuevo club, el Cardiff City, proveniente del Nantes de Francia, tras concretarse una transferencia por 17 millones de euros (20,4 millones de dólares). 

Ahora, Henderson, un hombre de 66 años, es investigado por coordinar el viaje de forma imprudente, poniendo en riesgo las vidas de Sala y el piloto, David Ibbotson, de 59 años.

Un viaje irregular

El cuerpo de Sala fue encontrado junto al avión a dos semanas del hecho, pero el piloto nunca fue hallado. 

En su informe, la Subdivisión de Investigación de Accidentes Aéreos (AAIB, por sus siglas en inglés), señaló que el aviador habría perdido el control tras realizar una maniobra a alta velocidad, para evitar el mal tiempo.

Además, los investigadores británicos creen que el conductor de la aeronave pudo haber ingerido monóxido de carbono durante esa acción, proveniente del sistema de escape del motor. También precisaron que cuando la aeronave se impactó con el agua, iba a 435 kilómetros por hora, anulando cualquier posibilidad de supervivencia. 

Asimismo, los expertos de la AAIB advirtieron que el viaje se realizó de noche, en condiciones climáticas desfavorables. Incluso destacaron que el piloto no estaba entrenado para hacer vuelos nocturnos y que, en ese momento, ni el avión ni su conductor contaban con las respectivas licencias actualizadas para realizar vuelos comerciales.

Sobre la cadena de responsabilidades, cabe repasar que el Nantes habría usado a los intermediarios Willie McKay y su hijo Mark para concretar la transferencia del atacante.

A su vez, ellos habrían contratado a David Henderson para realizar el vuelo, quien hoy afronta cargos como presunto coordinador del viaje accidentado. Por su parte, el Cardiff City afirmó que propuso realizar un viaje comercial común, pero el futbolista habría declinado esa opción.

Así, antes de subirse al avión privado, Sala comentó sobre su mal aspecto: “Estoy aquí arriba del avión, que parece que se está por caer a pedazos. Me estoy yendo para Cardiff”, bromeaba en un audio de WhatsApp enviado a sus amigos.
