El director deportivo del PSG contó el detrás de escena del fichaje de Lionel Messi

Leonardo explicó cómo se dieron las tratativas para lograr el desembarco del delantero argentino

Paris Saint Germain fue el gran ganador del pasado mercado de pases al lograr el desembarco de Lionel Messi, uno de los mejores futbolistas de la historia. Durante esta ventana de transferencias también se reforzó con otras figuras, como el marroquí Achraf Hakimi, el español Sergio Ramos, el portugués Nuno Mendes, el neerlandés Georginio Wijnaldum y el italiano Gianluigi Donnarumma. Además logró extender el vínculo del brasileño Neymar.

El director deportivo Leonardo jugó un papel muy importante dentro de esta historia. En diálogo con Canal +, el brasileño brindó detalles de cómo se dieron las negociaciones para fichar al astro argentino, quien ayer hizo su estreno en la Champions League con su nuevo equipo en la igualdad 1 a 1 ante Brujas en Bélgica. Fue el primer partido en el que jugó desde el inicio junto a su amigo Neymar y el francés Kylian Mbappé.

En primer lugar, el ex futbolista aclaró que las charlas con el entorno del rosarino iniciaron a principios de este año, cuando podía comenzar a negociar como jugador libre ya que su vínculo con Barcelona caducaba en junio. “No puedo ocultar que teníamos contactos desde antes. Pero siempre fueron después del mes de enero, cuando estaba a seis meses del final de su contrato. Estas palabras no fueron por casualidad. Leonardo aprovechó la oportunidad para responderle a Joan Laporta, presidente del conjunto catalán, luego de criticarlo públicamente hace algunas semanas. “El PSG le faltó el respeto al Barcelona al hablar públicamente sobre Messi. Un jugador (Neymar, Leandro Paredes y Ángel Di María expresaron su deseo de jugar con la Pulga) puede desear públicamente la llegada del mejor jugador de la historia, pero un club no. Leonardo se equivocó y lo sabe”, sostuvo el directivo en aquel entonces.

Pese a mantener una comunicación fluida con el entorno de Lionel, el dirigente confesó que todo hacía indicar que su futuro estaría ligado al elenco azulgrana, donde es considerado uno de los máximos ídolos del club. “Creímos que su idea era quedarse en Barcelona. Tenía claro que su deseo era quedarse y quizás terminar su carrera”, esbozó. La crisis económica que atraviesa el conjunto español cambió por completo el panorama para el argentino.

Las ganas de venir que demostró nos motivó mucho a hacerlo. Imagínense un jugador como Messi con la camiseta del Paris Saint-Germain…. Es algo enorme, muy bonito”, concluyó Leonardo.

Hasta el momento la Pulga disputó sólo dos encuentros con la camiseta del Paris Saint Germain. Por el torneo local jugó 24 minutos en la victoria por 2 a 0 ante Stade Reims y fue de la partida y completó los 90 minutos en la igualdad 1 a 1 contra Brujas. Si bien el inicio de los franceses en la Champions League no fue el esperado (integran el Grupo A junto a Manchester City de Inglaterra y RB Leipzig de Alemania), en la Ligue 1 son los cómodos punteros con 15 unidades, producto de cinco victorias en igual cantidad de presentaciones. Su escolta es el Angers, con 11.
