Águilas de la UTEC despliegan sus alas

Suman su séptima victoria en fila al derrotar 9 carreras a 1 a Halcones, para sacar tres juegos de ventaja a sus más cercanos rivales en la punta. Este sábado doble jornada desde las 2:30 pm en el Parque saturnino Bengoa.

Carlos Hernández, Prensa LNB.- Con una ofensiva de 12 imparables y otra destacada actuación monticular de William Louico, las Águilas de la Universidad Tecnológica (UTEC) sumaron su séptima victoria corrida al derrotar 9 carreras a 1 a la novena de Halcones, con los que amplían su ventaja en la punta de la XXVI edición de la Liga Nacional de Béisbol, en la que se disputa la Copa FESA 2021.

La UTEC comanda en solitario la punta de la tabla de clasificación con nueve triunfos en trece compromisos, seguido por Halcones y Shopping Center, ambos a tres juegos de diferencia con foja de seis lauros y siete caídas; mientras Santa Tecla cierra el pelotón a cuatro juegos de la punta, con registro de cinco y ocho.

Este sábado 10 de abril se disputará una doble jornada en el Parque Saturnino Bengoa desde las 2:30 pm. A primera hora se miden las novenas de Halcones y Santa Tecla, mientras que a las 6:00 pm se enfrentarán Shopping Center ante la UTEC.

Louico (5-0) lanzó siete sólidas entradas en las que admitió una carrera limpia, tan solo dos imparables, regaló cuatro boletos, golpeó a uno y ponchó a cinco rivales para anotarse la victoria, su quinta en el torneo.

Los universitarios inauguraron el score en el propio primer inning, ante el zurdo cubano Yoandry Portal (3-5). Andrés Velasco inició recibiendo boleto, pero fue puesto out en la intermedia en batazo por la inicial del venezolano José Roca, quien quedó a salvo tras no poderse completar la doble matanza. Carlos Rivas sonó hit a la izquierda para correr a tercera a Roca, quien anotó más tarde con sencillo impulsor de William Ponce.

Luego que Halcones igualó en el cierre del tercero, la UTEC fabricó par de anotaciones en la cuarta para irse arriba. Marlon León llegó a la intermedia con error de dos bases del campocorto y anotó con sencillo al centro de Ronald López, quien más tarde pisaría el plato en una jugada de doble robo retrasado.

En el quinto se definió el juego con un rally de cinco carreras de los universitarios. Roca inició con pasaporte. Carlos Rivas lo avanzó con hit a la izquierda. Un tiro contra el piso permitió que Roca anotara. El descontrol se apoderó del pitcheo y la defensa de Halcones por lo que Rivas, William Ponce y Wirkin Estévez (hit) anotarían en seguidilla tras varios tiros desviados al plato y un error.

En la octava la UTEC agregó la novena gracias a otro par de yerros de la defensiva.

“Cuando perdimos nuestro último juego yo le dije a mis compañeros que podíamos ganar siete en fila y estoy muy satisfecho porque lo logramos. No debemos confiarnos, hay que seguir trabajando duro ya que nuestra meta es quedar campeones”, comentó tras finalizar el juego el “Tigre” William Ponce.
