Inician la producción de un ‘dron de drones’, el primer aerotaxi autónomo de producción española

Las primeras pruebas reales con ese vehículo aéreo comenzarán en marzo de 2022 en diferentes ciudades del país europeo.

El centro de investigación aplicada y desarrollo tecnológico TECNALIA de España ha comunicado sobre el inicio de la fase de producción del primer aerotaxi autónomo desarrollado en ese país.

El vehículo aéreo, denominado ‘UMILES New Concept by Tecnalia‘, fue desarrollado por dicho centro de investigación y presentado en 2019. La “industrialización” de esta aeronave estará a cargo de la compañía española de sistemas aéreos no tripulados UMILES, a la que TECNALIA le ha transferido la patente con el objetivo de “mantener una relación a largo plazo para seguir desarrollando el sector” de la movilidad urbana.

UMILES presentó esta semana ese prototipo al público en el Congreso Mundial ATM (gestión del tráfico aéreo, en inglés) que culminó este jueves en Madrid. Ese aerotaxi autónomo fue diseñado para el traslado de una persona o cargas de hasta 150 kilogramos, en un rango de vuelo de 15 minutos y un alcance de 15 kilómetros.

¿Cuándo comenzará a operar?

El ‘UMILES New Concept by Tecnalia’ puede volar a alturas de entre 100 y 300 metros, aunque en teoría podría llegar a los 800 metros. Está equipado con cuatro drones, colocados en la parte superior e inferior de la cabina, que permiten su desplazamiento.

La prensa local informa que las primeras pruebas reales con ese vehículo aéreo comenzarán en marzo de 2022 en diferentes ciudades españolas. Sin embargo, su operación comercial iniciaría en el 2030. También se prevé que el próximo año se presente un nuevo aerotaxi similar al ‘Umiles New Concept by Tecnalia’, pero con capacidad para cinco pasajeros, además del piloto.
